His childhood wasn’t easy

Keoghan faced huge challenges in his childhood. According to his 2018 interview on The Late Late Show, he grew up in Ireland during a heroin epidemic. “The drugs hit the area, and it affected all the families and she was one of them that got caught,” he said, explaining how his mother died from an overdose.

“I was living with my nanny at that stage … I was 12. [My mother] was very young. She was 30, 31 … I have great memories of her and I’m very proud of her.” He also talked about how he was then taken into foster care, living with 13 different families in total.
